Poetry

I have not always used my intuition or viewed creativity as a way to engage with Spirit. Over time, I came to understand that I experience the world differently than some others and that’s beautiful too. My relationship with art has transformed over the years from restrictive to open to possibility because I allowed my art to begin in the heart and not always the mind.

Tree of Knowledge

If being authentic to myself is a sin,

I will grow the deepest roots,

the fullest branches of fruit

that bow to my shadows and light.

And if eaten,

I will surely thrive.

I will not be bound by lies.

Next Stop, Earth

Rainbow swirls

wrap around my curls

I am the spirit in the sky

look me in my eye

and know you are divine,

flesh and bones are

the anomaly

Don't forget your home.

8 Weeks

Your heart of steel

I will not yield

I will not kneel

to your whims

to me, that is a sin.

A Spider!

No one,

not even one of eight legs

should be sentenced to death

for existing differently.

Please forgive me oh small one.

What have I done?

Carrying out punishment

on those who weave

silver threads

when I have silver hairs

sprouting from my head.

A house for thee is not
a house for me

But, the trees tell me I'm one of a kind

and they don't mind my curiosities

I wish I were with them and not trapped

in four walls, I call to them often
Trees, do you remember me? The one who

said she would set herself free.

Don't bother me the humans groan,

they throw their trash and it fills the cavity

in my chest, was I always a mess?

"No" proclaim the trees

"You are the one who grips time by its teeth

and gnash them to tear open space

taking your place among the stars."

Shower Thoughts

Hope returns to my voice

at first I didn't notice

but once I began speaking

those birds took flight

and flew ahead of time

to open my mind.

Stay tuned for more poems :)
